2The rate
Each US city fills in with its federal reference rate for meals and incidentals, from the US General Services Administration's tables. Change any rate your deal pays differently. A per diem above the reference rate is common and isn't money anyone is owed; the extra may count as taxable wages. Information, not tax advice.
3The stops
In order, first day to lastFlat rate or federal rate?
Most tours pay one flat daily rate set in the crew's deal. The federal meals and incidentals rate is the government's daily allowance for a city; some tours and accountants use it as the reference.
The 75% travel-day rule
Under federal travel rules, the first and last day of a trip are paid at 75% of that city's meals and incidentals rate. Switch it to full rate if your deal pays every day in full.
