ATOM 101 is ATOM's free touring education: a dictionary of touring and music-business terms, how touring works (settlements, advancing, per diems, driver hours, international), and Ask 101 for questions. It is free for everyone at atominterstate.app/101, no sign-in. Inside ATOM, tap the 101 button at the top (on a phone, in your avatar menu).
EVERY ENTRY SAYS WHAT KIND OF CLAIM IT IS:
- Fact: a law, regulation or official rate. It shows the date it was last checked and links the official source. Facts are re-checked on a schedule, for example IRS per diem rates every October.
- Common practice: how tours usually do it. It varies by tour and deal, so treat the numbers as a guide.
- ATOM way: how ATOM itself does it.
- Plain vocabulary has no label.
ACROSS ATOM TOURS: some entries show a total worked out from real tours on ATOM, like the median per diem or the median venue cut on merch. Only the total is shown, only when 5 or more accounts are in it, and never a tour or account. Turn off Settings > Account > Share how I use ATOM and your tours are left out.
HOW 101 LEARNS: when YO ATOM or Ask 101 can't answer a touring question, ATOM keeps the question (with emails, phone numbers, links and money amounts taken out, and no name or account). Each night new answers are drafted with sources, and the ATOM team checks every one before it goes live. Please don't put names or private details in a question.
ASK 101 answers general touring questions. It is not advice for your specific deal, and it doesn't see your tour. For your own shows and numbers, ask YO ATOM inside ATOM.
