Flight alerts. ATOM watches every booked flight with a flight number and tells the people on it when something changes, even with ATOM closed: a buzz on the lock screen (iPhone app) and a line in the bell.
WHAT ALERTS:
- Delayed 15 minutes or more at the gate, with the new departure time. Again if it slips 20 more minutes, and once when it's back on time.
- Gate: the departure gate when it's posted (within about 3 hours of departure) and every gate change, old gate to new.
- Cancelled or diverted.
- Connection at risk: on a trip with connections, when the first flight now lands after the next one is due to leave, or with less than 30 minutes to make it (when the booking had more). The flight screen shows the same warning on the connection line, in yellow (tight) or red (at risk).
Each change is sent once, never on every check.
WHO GETS THEM: the travelers on that flight who have an ATOM login, and the tour's managers (the account owner, tour manager, org admin, management). Only people who can see the flight: a flight hidden to chosen people only alerts them. Crew who aren't on the flight don't get it.
WHEN: ATOM starts watching about 4 hours before departure and stops an hour after landing, checking every 10 to 20 minutes (more often close to departure and in the air). A flight needs an airline and flight number; private flights and flights only on the old board aren't watched.
TURN THEM OFF: Settings, Notifications, Flight alerts Off (or the gear on any ATOM notification pop-up, untick Flight alerts). That stops both the bell line and the buzz for flight alerts only; everything else keeps coming. Tick it again to turn them back on.
NOT THE SAME AS THE LOCK SCREEN CARD: alerts are buzzes when something changes. The live lock screen card is a separate feature that is not in the App Store app yet.
