Building a custom merch report

The composable merch report: pick the blocks, filter it, save it, export it

Building a custom merch report. Merch > Reports > Build a report.

The fixed PDF and Excel buttons beside it still give you the whole thing in one shape. This is the one you compose.

PICK WHAT GOES ON IT. Blocks from the left: headline numbers, gross-to-the-artist, category split, per head, coverage gauges, best nights, best sellers, best markets, and full tables of every night and every product. Drag them into the order you want by the grip, set each one half or full width, drop the ones you do not need.

FILTER IT. Dates (presets or a custom from/to). Nights: all, settled only, only nights with a door count, or only nights over a minimum gross. Markets. Categories. And proof: whether a night was signed in person at the booth, read off a document, entered by hand, or is counts only with no settlement behind it. An accountant asking for "only the ones somebody signed" can have exactly that.

A FILTERED REPORT SAYS SO. The header reads "18 nights of 36 (filtered)" and the exported PDF carries the same line. A page showing half a tour that does not mention it is a page somebody will read as the whole tour.

SAVE IT. Name the arrangement and it saves the blocks, the order, the widths AND the filters. Next month it is one click. Layouts carry across tours.

PRESENT IT. Full-screen, one block at a time, arrow keys or the buttons. For walking somebody through it on a call.

TAKE IT AWAY. PDF or Excel, both built from exactly what is on screen in exactly the order you arranged it.

THE MATH, AND ONE THING WORTH KNOWING. Gross to the artist shows the gross, the venue's cut, and whatever else the venue held back to land on the artist net the document states. It does NOT subtract sales tax and card fees as separate lines, because on most nights that would be wrong twice over: the venue's percentage is already taken off adjusted gross (after tax and card fees), and on a night marked "tax retained by artist" the artist keeps that tax and remits it later, so it never leaves them. Both figures are still shown, as context, with that explanation. Built the naive way on a real tour it understated the artist by $5,192.

BUSINESS MANAGERS AND MANAGERS PULL THEIR OWN. A firm connected to the artist's tour opens Manager > Clients > the client > Merch report and gets this same builder, read-only and live, without emailing the merch person. It needs the artist to have approved MERCH access specifically. That is a separate permission from money, so an existing money-only connection does not include it. If it has not been approved the screen says so and what to do.
