W-9 + Wire Info

The W-9 & Wire Info screen: drop a W-9 or bank letter to fill it in, where it is kept, and the device lock (Face ID, fingerprint or passcode)

W-9 & Wire Info keeps your W-9 details and bank wire details ready to send to a promoter or accountant. Open it from Money > Settings, the W-9 & Wire Info card; it has its own full screen.

FILL IT IN BY DROPPING A FILE: drop your W-9 (PDF or photo) on the drop box, or tap it to pick one. ATOM reads the legal name, business name, tax classification, EIN and address and fills them in, highlighted so you can check them. A bank letter, voided check or wire instructions fills the wire side the same way. Nothing is saved until you hit Save. The file is read once to pull the details out and is not stored by ATOM; a dropped W-9 PDF is kept as your Signed W-9, on this device only.

WHERE IT LIVES: only on this device, in this browser. ATOM's servers never keep it. A different computer or the phone app has its own, separate copy.

WHAT'S PROTECTED: your EIN / TIN, account number, routing, SWIFT / IBAN and the signed W-9 PDF are encrypted. Legal name, DBA, tax class and address are not treated as secret.

DEVICE LOCK (FACE ID, FINGERPRINT OR PASSCODE): on the W-9 & Wire screen, tap Turn on device lock (after your details are saved). After that it only opens with whatever this device uses to unlock: Face ID, a fingerprint (Touch ID, or Windows Hello on a PC), or the device's passcode or login password. No camera is needed; if Face ID doesn't work, the device offers the passcode. Without the lock, anyone using this device can open it with one tap. To turn it off, unlock it and tap Turn off device lock.

EMAIL TO: opens your mail app with every detail filled in, account numbers included. Check who it's going to before you hit send.

OLDER W-9 CARD: there used to be a second W-9 card that kept bank numbers unencrypted. It's gone; anything saved in it moves into this screen the first time you open it, and is encrypted when you save.

DON'T SEE IT? It shows for people with access to Settlements. If you don't have that, ask your TM.
