The Negotiator (pay calculator)

Your own pay calculator: what a run pays at your rate, your day and week rate, outside offers

The Negotiator: Know Your Worth is your own pay calculator: set your rate the way you charge it, see what a run really pays, compare offers, and make a pitch card. It is yours, not the TM's crew pay, and it stays with you between tours.

WHERE IT LIVES: Your Corner > My rate and offers (the same Negotiator, inside Your Corner), Community > Discover (Yours to keep), or /pay-calculator. All three are one Negotiator on one saved set of numbers.

PRIVATE, ON EVERY DEVICE: your rate, deal terms, saved offers and pitch card are saved to your own account, so your phone and laptop match. Only you can see them, never your TM.

PAY STRUCTURE: by the day (show, travel and off days at their own rates), by the week (a weekly rate, a retainer for dark weeks with no shows, and Partial weeks: Flat bills any part of a week as a whole week, Pro-rated bills a part week by the day), per show (with Days out, every day the run holds you), or a salary. Per diem is a daily meals amount kept apart from pay; on weekly pay it is counted on working weeks only unless you tick Per diem on dark weeks. Match to your tour fills the days and weeks from the tour you're on.

WHAT THIS PAYS (the gold card): contracted gross pay with a line for each piece, per diem as its own line (days x rate), and the total before tax. Effective day and week rate = gross pay divided by your committed days or weeks, and the card shows that denominator (for example gross pay / 336 committed days). With per diem shows the same per day including per diem. Total committed days shows how the days break down (working + dark). Effective rates are what the run works out to, not an asking rate.

YOUR RATES BY ARTIST: keep your standard rate plus a rate set for each artist or client you work for (for example your Jewel rates and your Flyleaf rates), each with its own pay structure, show / travel / road day off rates, what each kind of work day pays, per diem and deal terms. Add an artist, name it, and everything below edits that artist's rates. Tick Use these rates for (your tour) and My earnings, the at-a-glance row and the tax set-aside price that tour with them (one rate set per tour; it says Priced at your Jewel rates). Delete asks you to tap twice.

OFFER LOG: every offer has where it stands: Open, Bid sent, Won, I declined or They passed, and the artist it's for. Each change is kept with its date. Filter the list by status; the top line keeps your record (won, declined, passed, still open). A won offer has Save as my (artist) rates, which files its terms as that artist's rates. Declined and passed offers stay in your log but drop out of What if you took one of these? in My earnings.

SAVED ON YOUR ACCOUNT: your rates, rate book, offers and their history follow your login to every device, private to you, with room for years of offers.

WHAT DO YOU GET PAID FOR? (day rates): one row per kind of day: show day, travel day, day off on the road, then rehearsal, tech (production, load-in), TV, radio, promo, press (in-store, meet and greet) and other work days, each with how many your tour has. Show, travel and road days off take a dollar amount. Each work day picks Show day rate, Half a show day, Travel day rate, Unpaid or Set amount (the same choices as Crew Pay's Day types). Tick several rows and give them the same pay in one go. A work day you haven't answered is priced as a show day and says Not answered yet. Your answers price every day of that kind in My earnings, the paid days math, offers and the tax set-aside, and answered ones go on your pitch card (you can untick them there). Match to your tour now counts shows, travel, road days off and each kind of work day separately.

DEAL TERMS (optional): rehearsal rate and days, travel and off day pay (weekly, per show, salary), gear rental per day, week, show or run, and under More terms: per-show bonus, guaranteed weekly minimum (per show), overtime (your estimated hours), hold or first-call fee, travel class, gear or backline provided, comps, payment terms, and your own work costs. Money terms add to gross pay as their own lines. A cancellation fee and a hold fee are protections, listed but never counted as income. A single room or travel class never gets a dollar value. Work costs show a separate after-costs day rate.

1099 SET-ASIDE: a slider for a tax cushion on your gross pay (25 to 30% is the usual rule of thumb). Not tax advice.

FORECAST: your rate run over your real tour dates: average per month, next 3 months, next 12 months.

COMPARE OFFERS: Add another offer, fill in what you were offered (or Fill from a routing sheet to count the days), and see Your terms next to the Offer received with the difference. Questions to clarify lists every term the offer doesn't state yet (travel days paid, single room, cancellation, rehearsals, backline, comps, per diem, payment, travel); tick them off as you get answers.

PITCH CARD: Make a pitch card turns your asking rates into a card to send as an image or PDF. Two versions: Rate card, or Crew profile + rate card (credits, experience, specialties, availability). Every field is optional and the On the card checklist picks exactly which rates, terms and contact details are shared. Effective rates never go on the card.

OUTSIDE OFFERS: one offers list. Add an offer and use Fill from a routing sheet: ATOM counts the days and keeps the offer's dates, so My earnings in Your Corner can say when an offer overlaps one of your tour runs. Gigs saved with the older Size up a gig reader moved into this list as offers.

STARTER NUMBERS: until you change a rate, the page says it is showing starter numbers, not yours.

MATCH TO YOUR TOUR counts the same paid days as Your Corner: confirmed shows and other paid work, travel, and days off on the road. Days off at home, held dates and days with no type yet are left out.

FREE FOR ANYONE: the same math is on the ATOM website as the free Crew Rate Calculator (atominterstate.app/tools), no login.

GOOD TO KNOW: everything is before income tax, a planning estimate, not an offer.
